Sustainable Beauty Tips

With many of us making better life choices with diet, travel and waste in an effort to be more eco-friendly, we musn’t forget that there are also easy changes we can make with our skincare and beauty. Here at FabFinds, we’ve put together this blog to help you make your beauty routine more sustainable this spring.

Choose Products in Sustainable Packaging

It’s not always the first thing you think of when choosing new beauty products, but looking for products in contained packaging that is either recycled or recyclable is always a good place to start. Keep on the lookout for products that use glass rather than plastic or create their packaging from recycled waste. Luckily due to the increased awareness in the industry lately, this should be pretty easy to do!

Reuse

Fear not, you don’t need to start watering down your products when they start running low! Though reusing the formula is not an option, plenty of brands are now supplying re-useable packaging, with refill packs available to top up as opposed to buying a whole new pack.

Ditch The Disposables

As you probably already know, products such as makeup wipes and cotton pads are not good for the environment. They are made up of hard to break down materials such as polyester and polypropylene, meaning they end up stuck on a landfill as they don’t biodegrade. Luckily by just switching to reusable alternatives such as micellar water and microfiber cloths or pads, that can be washed and used again. These methods of washing your skin and removing makeup is a better way of caring for your skin.

Turn of The Taps

Before you begin your eco-friendly beauty routine, get into the habit of switching off the tap! Many of us leave the tap running when brushing our teeth or washing our face for longer than needed, which means most of the water is wasted down the drain! Switch the tap off when you’re applying your cleanser or turn off the shower when you’re shampooing, it will always help in the long run!
