5 Tips for Hosting A Winter World Cup Party
The FIFA World Cup is rapidly approaching again with football fans full of hype and anticipation for their teams. This year taking place in Qatar with 32 nations competing in 64 matches.
A showcase of the world's finest footballers in a heated competition for international glory. Whether you love football or hate it, there's no escaping it this winter and it will soon be taking over all our social media feeds.
Even if you don't consider yourself much of a football fan, the World Cup is the perfect opportunity to organise a party and gather with friends and family.
Here are some tips to get you in the spirit and help prepare your home before you invite friends and family to watch a football match.
Wear Your Team Colours
Since the World Cup will be taking place in winter this year, it may be too cold for you to wear your usual short-sleeved football tops. To beat the chill, you could always opt for a thermal long-sleeve top underneath or just wear warm clothes in the colours of your team.
Another great idea is to encourage your party guests to dress up as their favourite footballers; past or present. This will make it extra fun and will ensure no one dresses up as the same player!
Set Up A Comfortable Viewing Area
With the World Cup taking place during the winter this year your guests will appreciate a cosy item like a fluffy blanket or cushions to relax with.
Make sure to arrange your seating area so everyone has a good view of the TV, whilst still being able to talk to each other. Try adding some comfy floor cushions for the little ones.
Show your support for your team by decorating your home with balloons featuring your team's colours.
Prepare Party Foods & Snacks
There's no need to spend ages cooking food for your World Cup party, keep it simple and opt for easy finger foods that people can pick throughout the game like sausage rolls, burgers and cakes.
You can even customise your party food to reflect your team colours, like red foods for England and yellow for Brazil.
Choose food based on the countries playing for example if it's Italy you could make a pasta dish or for Japan you could have sushi.
Check out the popular Jacobs Mini Cheddars which come in a large tub that's easy to share around with party guests and fill up any party bowls.
Plan Party Games
Drinking games are always a blast at parties and great for livening up any dull matches. They're easy to set up and aren't time consuming.
Our Battle Pong Drinking Game is a twist on the original beer pong game but with prosecco glasses as well as beer glasses. Make it a competition and play boys vs girls or mix up the teams.
Play Party Tunes
After you've watched the game keep your guests hyped up with some party tunes. Even if your team has lost music is a great way to lighten the mood.
Play your favourite classic football songs like Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond and Freed From Desire by Gala. There are plenty of playlists on Spotify and Apple Music to save you time.
